Speaker Bios


John Berry

As a Managing Director of Haygrove, John is responsible for the Growing Systems business of Haygrove. Having joined in 2001, he has led Haygrove’s internationalization efforts promoting British patented products now sold in 45 countries for some 20 different types of field crops. 

John will discuss how tunnels are revolutionizing horticulture around the world — and in the U.S.A.
 

Graham Moore

As Group Agronomist for Haygrove, Graham provides technical support to all parts of the business, travelling extensively and helping with a wide range of crops. Graham is also a senior adviser with Farm Advisory Services Team (FAST), a specialist, independent consultancy company for fruit growers.


Graham will discuss large-scale tunneled production of asparagus and raspberries in substrate systems.



Tim Sobey

TSA Consultants has been in operation for almost 40 years with Tim Sobey at the helm.  Starting in irrigation trials design for developing countries, and moving into strawberries, the core business has been involved with berry fruits and climate adaptation ever since.  The business has advised almost every component of the industry including Governments, research establishments, plant breeders, marketers, grower cooperatives, machinery and equipment marketers and above all growers. The emphasis remains essentially on emphasizing practicality as the key to change and improvement.

Tim will focus on blueberries and blackberries in tunnels and under shade.



Rolly Whatton

As a graduate engineer, Rolly joined Haygrove direct from University over 9 years ago. Promoted several times and now Senior Engineer with Haygrove, he leads the New Product Development team and all company technical support and training.

Rolly will discuss high tunnel costs vs. the strength and durability of high tunnels; wind management from an engineer's perspective.
